HDR

Bueno, si llegaron a este blog, el que no habia actualizado hace mucho tiempo, es porque de alguna manera estan interesados en fotografia digital. Por lo tanto, no entraré en detalles técnicos acerca de lo que es el HDR, ya que hay mucha información en la red acerca de este tipo de imágenes, así como también tutoriales. Solamente para mostrarles algo de mi trabajo con esta técnica.

Well, if you reached this blog, which I hadn't update for a long time, it is because you are somehow interested in digital photography, so I won't go into any technical details about what HDR is, as a lot of information can be found on the internet about this technique, as well as many good tutorials. I just want to share some of my work using this technique.

Casablanca

Casablanca is a small town about 50 km. from Valparaiso, where you can find small spots like these, very near from downtown. It's a very quiet place to walk around and see the magnificent colors if the nature even in autum.

The Paradise

I found a small paradise in the earth. There is no words to describe the beautiful and marvelous landspaces in the Andes Mountains. I found breathtaking places, shared with you through these pictures. This place is "El Morado" national park, deep into "Cajon del Maipo", from Santiago to the east. It is a beautiful paint of colors, textures, smells, sounds and sensations. The images worth more than 10.000 words.

The Spring

The spring is arriving little by little, you can find a lot of small critters, bugs, and, most of all, flowers. When you see the hills, they are now being covered by a colorful blanket of flowers. The flowers are visited by all kind of bugs like butterflies, bees, beetles, grasshoppers, etc. These insects are eaten by bigger insects, or little lizards like this one (liolaemus tenuis).

Wherever you go, you can find small flowers all around you, small beauties, laying there, just a gift for your eyes and your smell. Also you can find in wet places, mushrooms. I',m not sure if it can be eaten, but I wouldn't dare to do it.

Another flowers show an inmense delicacy, with soft colors, a delicious smell, impregnating the air around them. All these are so tiny that you cannot understand how is it possible for them to grow in the wild, exposed to the elements. That is a real miracle!

All the flowers shown here are wild, they grown everywhere in the fields, only with intervetion of insects and mother nature in their cycles. That's beautiful!, isn't it?

Many of these flowers are real gifts for us. Gifts that we can enjoy if we want to, if we find the time in our rush lives, to be invaded by their peace and beauty. Finally, maybe the black and white process can help to see all the things here, tree and leaves textures, colors, and deep of this landscape. Of course, it is only muy humble opinion.

Yes, I like bugs, I like to discover little details in flowers, tiny bugs, spiders, despite its aspect. I like to watch small critters running away from the light, disturbed by the intruder, in this case, myself.Another Spider catched in a flower

I really love all the beauty that mother nature put in front of our eyes. I love the colors of the flowers, I love their softness and textures. I love to discover small habitants between these flowers waiting for the food, hiding themselves, or simply doing nothing.

What are we for them? Gigants? Are they aware of us? Do we care them?

Sightseeing around Valparaiso

Beautiful places around Valparaiso.

If you drive for about 2 hours, you might find many beautiful places, old towns, with many nices spots to photograph. One of these spots is Putaendo, a small town near San Felipe, a bigger city that together with Los Andes, are the closest cities to Argentina border. Near there, another beautiful places are Santa Maria, El Almendral (where there is a small vineyard where you can buy very nice and cheap wine, among other liquors. The life in these small towns is peaceful, everybody knows each other.

Any people arriving there from big cities are very welcome, and it is common that the local people talk to you spontaneously being them very firendly. You can obtain beautiful pictures in these towns. Here I post some examples. Hope you like them.

Elevators of Valparaiso

Valparaiso, is the main port of Chile. It was discovered by Juan de Saavedra.
This is one of the old funiculars still used by people to get access to the hills. There ara about 15 of these old machines still working, and they are one of the main attractions of the city for the tourist.
They work using electricity as main power, they are very cheap, and despite their aspect it has not been any accident for decades.
It is exciting to get in one of these, and smell the old wood and metal, hear the sound of their old structure cry.

The one on the right was the bigger, as it had four cars. Now only two of them are still working. It was built in 1893. Its name is "Artilleria" (Artillery). At the top there is a place from where you can take fantastic panoramic photos of the harbor.

Hello, my name is Renato Cortes, I live in Valparaiso, Chile.
I love photography since 1995, I have done all kind of photos:
Macro, nudes, documental, travels, black & white and color, slides, lab
work, etc.
Now I'm involved in digital world, since the cameras now can
compete (and be better) than analogs cameras with film.
